LOVE, LOSS AND LA BOHÈME AT THE RITZ Golden Isles Arts & Humanities is pleased to present the return of Peach State Opera and their production of La bohème on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 3 pm at the Historic Ritz Theatre in downtown Brunswick. La bohème is the most frequently performed opera in the world and contains some of opera’s most beautiful and compelling music. Based on Henri Murger’s novel, Scènes de la vie de bohème, (Scenes from a bohemian life), La bohème is a grand story of love and sorrow told through a poetic libretto and the tremendous score by Giacomo Puccini. Peach State Opera’s production of La bohème is staged in 1920s Paris – an era that established the city as the capital of literature, music, art, cinema, and fashion. The opera follows the precarious but colorful life choices of a group of friends (artists, musicians, writers, and working girls) experiencing love and loss in the Latin Quarter. The popular musical and subsequent film version, Rent, is based on Puccini’s masterpiece. Peach Sate Opera, a touring company that brings opera to communities across Georgia and beyond was founded in 2009. The organization’s guiding principle is that all audiences deserve access to opera and that the opera world needs a place where emerging artists can express themselves. All their performances are condensed family-friendly versions and are performed in English. Don’t miss the opportunity to see opera live at the Ritz Theatre!Advance tickets for Golden Isles Arts & Humanities members are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors.
